Admirable, but will only help edge that son-of-a-Bush towards Presidency. That's scary. DON'T waste your vote on Nader!

Voting one's concience is never wasted.

The main candidates are like 2 bookends with a very thin book between them....we are equally doomed whichever one gets elected. A third party vote is not wasted. It is dissent. It is saying 'I'm not eating the pablum you are putting in front of me!'

At least get out and vote. Your local races are more likely to have impact on your life than the nationals. The city council races, school boards, state assembly. These are the trully important races. F*** the national media circus.

In todays National Post (Toronto) it was said that Canadians overwhelming favour Gore over Bush and would vote that way if these two were running here.

A vote for Nader is not 'wasted'; Here's why:

The president is not elected by the popular vote, but by a majority (270) of the 538 electoral votes. These electoral votes are cast by state, and it's winner-take-all within each state. Thus, a Nader vote has no chance of 'spoiling' the outcome for Al Gore unless it potentially changes the outcome within each state. The truth is, for 90 percent of the states (including the biggest ones), that's not going to happen

So here's the test. If you live in Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Wisconsin, you live in a battleground state and you should still vote for Ralph Nader and tell your nervous friends that they should vote for their hopes and dreams and not their fears. If you live in any of the 43 other states a vote for Bush or Gore is a wasted vote because of the electoral college, and its winner take all system.

At present, Nader is the best hope for establishing a viable, independent alternative to the Demublican / Republicrat duopoly. Are you planning to vote for the 'lesser evil' the rest of your life? Unless you plan to die real soon, take a look into the future and decide if you'd like a change. If not, keep snoozing and do what the Demublicans want you to do: believe their hollow rhetoric and internalize their 'us or them' voting structure. The next election is only 4 years away.

I would prefer it if some members of rec.climbing stayed home on election day.

In fact, I'm not one of those who laments the deplorable election day turnouts. Some people just shouldn't vote. Think of rob (not Rob) as an example. Or RockOrr. Or any number of other budding rocket scientists that have come crawling out of the woodwork here. Do you REALLY think we're all better off if people like this vote???

Besides, the fewer that turn out, the more my vote counts.

I'm more than happy to represent you degenerates in the election. So stay home, sit on the couch, go climbing a dark gym, do a wall; whatever. Rest easy in the comfort that a Dingus is fulfilling your obligations and making your decisions for you.

You're in good hands with Milktoast.

The connection? It comes at the bottom of the second page:

'Gore has pledged to sign the 1997 Kyoto Treaty, which calls for countries to reduce their use of fossil fuel to stem global warming and is the subject of a gathering of world leaders in The Hague later this month. Texas Gov. George W. Bush opposes the treaty and maintains

Due to anticipated voter turnout being much larger than previous election years, the polling facilities may not be able to handle the increased number of people.

Therefore, Democrats are requested to vote on Tuesday, November 7 and Republicans and others on Wednesday, November 8.
