What's the best way to tie 2 inch flat webbing. I assume a water knot will work just fine, but was curious to see if anybody ties the stuff differently. Thanx

I used 2' for top rope anchors until I got tired of lugging that heavy stuff around. Water knot with overhand backups and watch it close. I have no data to support this, but my impression is that 2' more likely to unintentionally untie than the thinner stuff.

I don't have any real data either. But I did take a 30-foot fall one time when the 2' stuff magically untied itself, or else was aided. I was lucky that it did not break my fool neck.

Round your non-climbing ex-wife's waist, on a very steep outing.

(Remember swami belts?)

Just curious, what on earth are you using 2 inch flat (like a seat belt??) webbing for?

If it was 2 inch tubular webbing, I'd use a beerknot....

Seat-Belt webbing is the greatest(well, i'm not sure anymore). I was planning to use some trees for some anchors(like toprope) and possibly for a gear rack strap. I just don't know what the best knot/backup would be best suited.

Um......why not just use some static rope if you really think you need something with a breaking strength of OVER THREE TONS for a top rope anchor.........? It ties well, stays tied, and you can usually get ends from the climbing shop for a discount.

Now the gear rack strap idea sounds comfy.....sew it (blunt needle, strong thread)
