How long does it take to hike from Sam Mack to the start of the route, approx?

With a chopper maybe! Well over an hour just to the start of the N. Pal. glacier. A minimum of another hour to the base of the route. Allow 3 to get there and 3 to get back. I strongly recommend you camp at the glacier and not at the meadow.
