Hi,
I live and work in the Bay Area. I am a hard-core climbing fan (ice-climbing, rock-climbing, expeditions, hikes; have summitted McKinley and Aconcagua). Currently, due to busy work life, I can only afford one weekend day trips (Saturday or Sunday). Does anyone have any suggestions regarding one day (plus possibly one night) excursions from the Bay Area? Long drives is not a problem if there are multiple drivers. The climbing should be challenging and hard-core in nature. Anyone interested? Are there any clubs/organizations which organize such trips?
Thanks in advance.

I know several folks who do one-day trips to Yosemite on a regular basis... pick up a partner in Camp 4. Lover's Leap or Donner Summit are certainly doable in a day.

know about hard-core, challenging climbing for one-day trips.
In addition to the areas Chris K. mentioned, there are some other rock climbing areas in the Tahoe area. Sugarloaf, the Emeralds, caverock (not sure of its present access status), Big Chief, and several others offer hard-core challenging rock climbing. I doubt you'll find organized trips with such an agenda, but maybe that's why you asked the question (insert grin here). I usually do day-trips in the Tahoe area. I have done longer routes in Yosemite by heading up the evening before, getting a very early start, then going home that afternoon.
Of course my definition of hard-core & challenging is figuring out how much pro to take for the 4th pitch of Surrealistic Pillar.
