I have a question for well-traveled folks. How are rec.climbing get- togethers alike or different from rockclimbing.com get-togethers? Anyone have any thoughts you'd care to share about similarities & differences between these 2 virtual groups? I ask because I've no experience with either, and see that both are planning fall events.

One group are 'bottoms' the other are 'tops'. Bill R.

I have no idea about the rockclimbing.com events, but I've been to many rec.climbing get-together (both on the east and west coast), and I'd go back any time. They've always been better than I expected. If it wasn't fun, they wouldn't have become annual traditions, and people wouldn't travel a few thousand miles to attend. Don't worry if you know nobody, that's no problem at all. Just go, and have fun. And don't forget your Halloween costume.

I haven't been to a rockclimbing.com get-together yet but all the rec.climbing ones have been awesome. Don't worry, you probably won't get flamed except if you drink too much near the campfire.
