WHAT: Climbing. Hanging out. You know, the usual.

WHERE: Yosemite (probably Hodgdon Meadows campground because there is a first come first-served group campsite there.)

WHEN: This weekend (Oct 21-22). Sorry for the late notice. Tom and I are hoping to go up a little early on Friday and snag the group site or a bunch of adjacent sites.

WHY: I dunno. Why not? Seems like fun. There was talk of this being a consolation Halloween thing for those of us here who can't make the J. Tree bash, but it isn't really. It's not on Halloween. I don't have a costume. There will be no decorations or games unless someone else brings/organizes them. I certainly wouldn't be opposed, but personally, I'm hoping to keep my life simple.

Let me know if you can make it so I know how many places to save. Hope to see you there!

Pat & I are there, arriving late Friday evening ... and relieved that we don't have to come up with costumes.

Never been to Hodgdon Meadows, never met any of you folks, we'll have to figure out some sort of identification mechanism...

We're short on campsite cooking experience (we're *very* wimpy car campers), but we'll try to make up for it by bringing beer and wine.

I was betting Pat would be in a girl costume, just to throw me off...

Gung Ho is short, constantly smiling, has veins bulging out of her forearms, and has shortish black hair. She looks like she's about 15 years old, and leads about 5.12 Trad. Easily recognizable from her driving habits...

Ergophobe is a young kid, 0% body fat, wears glasses, and will have the bruises and scrapes indicating his recent masochistic gravitation toward offwidth. Leads 5.12 Trad. Look for the black & blue carnation in the lapel of his Tux.

Gnar-Gnar is also short with shortish dark hair, but looks older than Gung Ho (Inez looks about 23) and is more muscular, built like a gymnast. Delightfully cynical, sarcastic sense of humor. Leads 5.12 Trad.

Nurse Ratchet and I will try to be hanging out near the big yellow bus labelled 'Old Climbers' Home'

Ratchet will be the one with the clipboard, stethoscope, and cattle prod. Leads 5.12 Trad.

I'm the ancient toothless guy with the titanium walker that the NPS Ranger is hauling away in handcuffs for indecent exposure. I don't climb anymore, but my other hobby sometimes seems to get me in trouble with the Rangers anyways...

Works for me! Will we need to bring stove and cook gear for y'all?

cute stuff deleted.

Bruitwuis, glad you and the 21 whacks lady are coming. Sure, do bring food for all of us, I haven't felt like cooking in about 20 years (just kidding!!). But I will bring my stove, good coffee and other treats (my handcuffs).

Jens Michaelis, (a rec.climber from Germany) Sumo (we know HIM!) and I will be motoring up together.

Somebody perhaps leave a note at the bulletin board of Hodgdon Meadows?

Thanks in advance.

You never know.

[Several highly evocative and certainly accurate descrptions elided]

Pat's the short one, I'm the tall one. If that's not enough to tell us apart, I'm the one with fall-colored hair. We might be taking the big yellow bus back with you, since we're both apparently eligible for membership in the OCH...

Ah, helpful as always...

I suspect that we will bring espresso makings, our one burner stove, and cold breakfasts ... and eat dinner somewhere in the Valley before retiring to the campground to drink in relative peace We'll leave the chiminea home this trip, I think.

I'll try to post something on the board when I figure out what sites we have. Tom and I will be in a navy blue Ford Escort wagon with a sticker extolling the virtues of Nebraska on it.

Tom and I have a two-burner propane stove that you're welcome to cook on. It's easy to adjust the height of the flame, so anything that you can cook on the stove at home is fair game. There is usually extra pots and pans and stuff lying around. It's CAR camping afterall - just bring the kitchen.

Oh dear.

Well, I'm looking forward to seeing you all.

That should be easy to spot...

Yep, you can't hide behind any nice, sweet veneer anymore. You've been outed, hardwoman.

See how easy it happens?

So can somebody who lives nicely between Yosemite and J-tree go to both? Oh, the wonder life I lead in bakersfield!
