On a complete aside: how is that canned S*bucks, anyway? I have one in my 'fridge, but frankly I'm scared to try it.

Love it. Changes the back country coffee grind in a big way. The stuff just flows down the back of your throat, then kicks in like jet fuel. Not as much sugar for the bang as you get with the likes of SoBe.

2 bucks for 2 shots of spro isn't out of line either. 2 thumbs up.

It's REALLY good. Expensive but tasty. This new climbing partner of mine brings with us on every climb we have a backpack.

Thanks for the read, you really capture the feel of the backcountry. There is a specific weariness that seems to come from the elevation gain and pack climbing that is set firmly in my mind. That and the acidic taste in your mouth on a hot day when you're nursing the last 1/4 liter of hot water. Things I'll never forget...

Thanks also for sharing about your family. I too wait until the crack of 4:00am to leave my wife for road trips. One night away often feels much easier than two nights. And two less than three, funny that way.
