good question. Why don't you go and I won't. Then you can tell me whether or not I would have gotten any climbing done there. I'll let you know what Yosemite was like.

But seriously, RR is pretty close to Vegas. The weather will pretty much be the same. If the sandstone gets wet it gets soft. If it rains a lot you probably shouldn't climb on it.

Your call.

Hey, I'd go. But we once had to help a couple off of a long route there during a November thunderstorm... It was only 45 degrees outside but they were ill-equipped for wind. It was downright cold on the night bail-off. I started a small fire for them as my partner downclimbed to help them find the route in the dark.

I think that weather is moving in New Mexico by Saturday. I'd go only 'cause if it didn't work I'd go running in the desert or shoot some craps.

Take care.

Help I'm supposed to go to red rocks this weekend, but the weather channel just said chance of thundershowers for Sat and Sun. But my guess is that it is for LV proper and not the canyon. Will it be different? and will a thundershower prohibit me from climbing??? or does a thundershower just typically blow by without much rainfall??? In other words should I just not go???

Yes. RR will be worse as it is 1 to 2 thousand + feet higher than the L.V. valley

and will a

Prohibit? No. Severely inhibit? Yes. Wet and cold with large pieces of relatively soft sandstone coming off in chunks.

or does a thundershower just

Couple of drops or a deluge. Take your chances, it's Vegas afterall. Last month, I returned to an obscure limestone canyon to find a side canyon road I had driven two weeks before was now a four foot deep trough. Give me an earthquake over a flash flood anyday.

Oh, hell no. Dhude there's so much friggin' limestone climbing around here I can't keep it all straight (unless you're one of those REAL climers that won't deign to clip a bolt or two.)

Oh, and please gamble while you're here. Keeps our local taxes low.
