Is my newsreader dead or do people just not have a good time climbing. Climbing is, after all, supposed to be 'your worst nightmare.'
I'll name one of my best moments. It happened on one of my all-time favorite routes, Corrugation Corner at Lovers Leap. I was sitting on the large dike (actually, if they run horizontal, they're technically called sills) at the last belay of the climb with one of my best friends. Climbing trivia question: What climber who lived in a teepee and used his early knowledge of roadkill to later get a fine arts degree combining jewelry with taxidermy had the following experience?
He was banding Golden eaglets in northern Minnesota. He had climbed 80 feet up a pine and turned the considerable overhang of the nest when a parent eagle came in for the attack. He was forced to let go and dropped the 80 feet to the ground branch-to-branch, ending up not too badly hurt. He is living (I hope) proof that you cannot smoke too much pot.
