<< I'm a rock climber, and I own an insurance agency in Illinois! I noticed several comments/ concerns regarding life insurance. Some people were stating that their premiums were doubling, etc. So I called my underwriter w/ my company. I was informed that if someone has 2 years climbing and at least 6 climbs, they would be eligible for a standard rate- so they would NOT be rated for such activity. >>

ONLY doubling? I've been climbing for 17 yrs. and the number of climbs is lost in an alcoholic fog. Our investors required key man insurance on the founders of the company and my premium was *6* times what it would have been just because I'm a climber. And you would not believe the assinine questionaire: 'How high are the cliffs you climb on?' ('Does it f***ing matter after 50'?' They weren't real impressed with that answer.)
