Anyone in Bay Area know of a topo or route descriptions for Turtle Rock by Corte Madero? I briefly scanned the bay area rock book and I couldn't find anything.
Partner and I are going to be in Corte Madero Saturday and are considering climbing there. Do you think it is worth it? Any info will be much appreciated.

There's some pretty good bouldering on Turtle Rock, so if you boulder then yeah, it might be worth it. The traverse is pretty fun. I guess you could toprope on nearby split rock - some people do, apparently, but it's small and not very interesting. I don't know that there's anything you'd call a route on it. I'd just bring shoes and a chalk bag, and go bouldering.

We recently spent an hour 'soloing' almost every concievable line on Split Rock. While the easiest lines on the main face are not so challenging, I personally find solid 5.7-5.8 friction moves while topping out 25-30 off the deck to be 'interesting', to say the least. There are some fun face climbs on the far left face and arete, which are 5.10 to 5.10+, as well as a couple 5.10's at the opening of the split with horrible landings onto jagged rocks.(very interesting) Also, a few 5.11's inside the split. I fell off of the crux move on one of these, and luckily was able to jam my foot against the wall behind me, preventing a 15 foot fall. (*Very* interesting!)
Watch out for climbing classes engaging in siege-toproping-tactics on the weekends. (You can flee to nearby Turtle Rock)
