Really sad news. I don't know if he's Ned the caretaker of Hermit Lake that I met there two years ago... He was a really nice guy, always smiling and enjoying the mountain. It was really great to meet him for a few cold winter days.

Be it him or not, my thought goes to the unlucky climber and his family and friends.

I'm pretty sure it was the same guy. He was the caretaker at the Harvard Mountaineering Club Cabin the last few years but I heard he worked at Hermit Lake before.

I led Ned up his first climb of Pinnacle Gully last season. We had a great time. He was a really good guy, and I'll miss him... and that huge beard.
